Welcome Home Felix!

Felix was discharged from the hospital on Sunday morning. 17 days old and we finally got to bring him home!

First picture at home

We didn't know what time he would be able to come home. They said it all depended on when the pediatrician could do the discharge exam. Well, when we got there around 8am the doctor had already examined and discharged him. He was no longer hooked up to all the monitors! I fed him, dressed him in his elephant jammies (the only Newborn sized piece of clothing I purchased on the off chance I might have a little baby) put him in his car seat and away we went. Well actually, before we left we stole stuff from the nursery...diapers, wipes, bulb syringe, petroleum jelly, balmex, etc. (Don't worry we were given permission to pilfer).

Yesterday he had a doctors appointment with his pediatrician. Since leaving the hospital 24 hrs before, he had gained 4 oz. He now weighs 6 lbs 12oz and is 21.5" long. He is getting big so fast!

Phillip and I are so grateful to have Felix home with us. I definitely do not miss being at the hospital everyday, but I do miss all the nurses we got to know and who were always there if we had questions! Now we're fully entrenched in the sleepless nights and figuring things out on our own and we couldn't be happier.

  1. Congratulations! What a big sigh of relief that you are now home together as a family. And bonus on getting the free stuff at the hospital - we love that!
